I compose music using Jummbox, and started August 2023. I originally used Beepbox, then Garageband, then MilkyTracker, and then finally decided that Jummbox was probably the best for me to use. I didn't create music during January 2024 - March 2024, so my music skills aren't the best right now.

Some songs have been discluded, either because they were incomplete, or just were bad in general.

My most recent song at the time of writing this. Very proud of this. Loosely based off of this song. Was going to make it longer, but Jummbox was beginning to lag (I added a lot of instruments).

Note: These tips are mostly for myself, in case I ever forget music theory, but you can follow them too if you'd like :P

Layers

(Check out the animals in the bottom right for a visual explanation of this.)

Music has multiple layers of different instruments, playing at the same time. There are 4 key layers in a song:

• Main Instrument
• Bass
• Drums
• (Optional, but reccommended) Secondary Instrument

The main instrument is the strongest and most prominent instrument. It is the loudest instrument in the song, and is almost always there (common exceptions are the intro, outros, and solos).

The bass is the quietest layer of the song, but is equally as important as the rest. It adds groove to a song, and makes it feel less empty. Check out the red dog in the bottom right. It represents bass. Play all the animals with it, listen, then make the red dog stop playing. Compare them.

The drum makes a song more hyped up (I think that's how you describe it???). It makes a song seem more fast. A snare is the highest pitched sound of the drum. The drum usually makes the same beat the entire song.
Drums can also be used to add emphasize a change in a song

Scales

Scales are combinations of notes that go well together. Scales can make a song such as the Crazy Bus Theme sound much more better (An important thing to note is that the Crazy Bus Theme was made without a scale, being completely randomly generated).
